Fakhri Ahmed

Fakhri Ahmed is an Arabic-English journalist and media professional with about nine years of experience across four countries. He has worked as a television reporter, anchor and acting producer, and has contributed political analysis to the BBC. In Canada, he reported and anchored Arabic-language news, and served as acting producer, for OMNI Television, part of Rogers Sports & Media.

Journalism taught him to explain a story clearly, to stand behind every line of it, and to question what looks obvious. It also taught him to look past the headline to the people inside it.

Separately from his reporting, he has travelled to 24 countries, out of curiosity about people, politics, cultures and communities. Again and again he met people and visited places that differed considerably from the simplified descriptions offered from a distance. Those experiences are a large part of why Unseen Borders exists.

His approach is to get closer to the story: to listen carefully, ask better questions, understand different perspectives and give audiences deeper context. He believes journalism can investigate conflict and difficult realities honestly without deliberately making one culture, community or political side the enemy of another. That does not mean treating every claim as equally valid. Evidence and accuracy come first, and fairness means giving people a genuine chance to be heard, not giving unsupported claims equal weight.

He founded Unseen Borders to build an international media company that crosses cultural, geographic and political boundaries through journalism and documentary storytelling. Its wider ambition is to contribute to dialogue, to mutual understanding and, where possible, to peace, through accurate and fair reporting.
